About the Role
We are currently seeking an Assistant Cost Manager based in Colombo to join our growing project delivery team.
This role is well suited to fresh graduates or professionals with 1–2 years of experience who are looking to build a solid career in cost management within an international construction consultancy.
You will gain hands-on exposure to both pre-contract and post-contract cost management, supporting live projects across the UAE, KSA, and wider Middle East, while being based in Sri Lanka.
Working closely with senior cost managers, you will develop practical skills in cost planning, measurement, tendering, and commercial reporting.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and keen to grow into a well-rounded cost management professional.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of cost plans, BOQs, estimates, and pricing documents.
Support pre-contract activities including measurement, tender documentation, tender analysis, and comparisons.
Assist with post-contract duties such as interim valuations, variation assessments, cost reports, and final accounts.
Review contractor submissions and support checks for commercial and contractual compliance.
Maintain accurate cost records, forecasts, and expenditure trackers.
Support senior team members with contract administration, variations, and close-out activities.
Coordinate with internal cost, project managers, and consultants to support cost certainty and value delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Fresh graduate or up to 1–2 years’ experience in quantity surveying or cost management.
Basic understanding of BOQ preparation and measurement principles (POMI, NRM, CESMM exposure is an advantage).
Willingness to learn both pre-contract and post-contract cost management processes.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to work.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD; exposure to CubiCost or similar measurement software is an advantage.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
A positive, professional attitude with a keen interest in developing a long-term career in cost management.
